LIV Golf Betting Guide: How To Bet On LIV Golf
LIV Golf has emerged as a fierce rival to the PGA Tour after convincing many of the world’s finest golfers to defect. Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Cameron Smith are just some of the big names that joined the Saudi-backed tour, which has turned the genteel sport of golf on its head.
Interest in LIV Golf continues to increase, so the country’s leading sportsbooks have started accepting bets on each tournament. This LIV Golf betting guide breaks down the wagers you can place, teaches you how to read the odds and highlights some of the top sportsbooks. Read on to learn more about LIV Golf betting.
How to Bet on LIV Golf
You can sign up with a licensed online sportsbook in your state to bet on LIV Golf. BetMGM and PointsBet are among the sports betting apps that cover LIV Golf. Visit the golf section, and you should find LIV Golf events listed alongside the PGA Tour and other tournaments.
Select an event, browse your options and click on one that appeals to add it to the betslip. You can then choose a bet amount, check the potential profit available and confirm your bet.
It sounds simple, but it is important to learn how to read odds and gain an understanding of the available bet types before placing a wager. This LIV Golf betting guide will explain everything you need to know.
LIV Golf Odds Explained
LIV Golf odds tell you two things:
- The potential profit you would earn from a bet.
- The implied probability of a bet succeeding.
They start with a plus or a minus. Here is an example of LIV Golf odds:
- Dustin Johnson to shoot a lower score than Taylor Gooch -125
- Taylor Gooch to shoot a lower score than Dustin Johnson +105
If the LIV Golf odds start with a minus, it explains how much you need to risk to earn a $100 profit. In the example above, a $125 bet on Johnson would net a $100 profit.
If they start with a plus, they tell you the profit available on a winning $100 bet. A $100 wager on Gooch in this example would pay a profit of $105. You can type in your bet amount on the betslip, and it will automatically calculate your potential profit.
What Can You Bet On In The LIV Golf Tour?
The most common LIV Golf betting option is a simple prediction on the individual winner of a tournament. Sportsbooks issue odds on each golfer before the 54-hole event gets underway, and you just need to predict who will achieve the lowest score.
A winning team is also crowned at each LIV Golf event. In 2022, 4 Aces GC – consisting of captain Dustin Johnson, Taylor Gooch, Pat Perez and Patrick Reed– won five out of eight events, with one win apiece for Stinger GC, Fireballs GC and Smash GC. Some sportsbooks will accept pre-tournament bets on the winning team.
Additional markets can include betting on a player to earn a top 5 or top 10 finish. You can also sometimes bet on 2 ball matchups – head-to-heads between individual players, whereby you predict who will finish the round with the lowest score. There are 3 ball and 4 ball groups available at some sportsbooks too. Prop bets may also be offered, such as:
- Will there be a hole in one? (yes/no)
- Who will be the best performing American player?
- What will the winning margin be?
You can find out more about golf betting in our How To Bet On Golf guide.
LIV Golf Live Betting
Live betting begins after the first player has teed off at an LIV Golf event. You can continue betting in-play throughout the 54-hole event, with live markets generally available until close to the end of the final day.
Markets such as the tournament winner and 2 ball matchups are updated in real time so that the odds reflect the current state of play. This is very popular, as you can watch the tournament, gauge which players are responding well to the conditions and place live bets based on your live analysis.
LIV Golf Betting Sites: Where to Bet On LIV Golf Tour
Only a handful of online sportsbooks covered the LIV Golf Invitational Series when it got underway in London back in June 2022. However, it has now evolved into the LIV Golf League, and all high-quality sports betting sites now accept wagers on the action.
PointsBet and BetMGM offer the broadest range of wagering options in the United States, so we highly recommend them for LIV Golf betting. Market leaders such as FanDuel and DraftKings also offer competitive LIV Golf betting lines. You can register with a few of these sportsbooks and place your bets at the site with the best odds.
LIV Golf Betting Apps
LIV Golf betting apps make it very easy to bet on each event. They are especially useful for live betting, as you do not need to be at a computer to quickly place a wager. If you are on the couch watching the action, just pick up your Android or iPhone and you can make a bet in seconds, before the in-play odds change.
This also allows you to bet on LIV Golf League events when you are on the move. Golf wagering apps are available in more than 20 different states, including New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Nevada and Pennsylvania, making LIV Golf betting highly accessible.
LIV Golf Betting Promos & Bet Credits
You will receive a sign-up bonus when you register with an online sportsbook that takes bets on LIV Golf. These are some of the offers you might receive:
- First Bet Insurance | The sportsbook refunds you with bonus credits if your first bet loses. You need to play the credits through once before you can cash your winnings out.
- Bet and Get | Place a qualifying bet and receive bonus credits in return. For example, bet $5 to redeem $200 in site credit.
- Deposit Match Bonus | The LIV Golf betting site will match your first deposit with bonus credits, such as a 100% deposit match up to $500. Once again, you need to play the bonus money through before you can cash out.
There may be additional LIV Golf betting bonuses aimed at existing users in the build-up to tournaments too. Examples include odds boosts, profit boosts, bet insurance offers, bet and get deals and free-to-play contests.
LIV Golf Betting Picks
Professional handicappers have been offering their picks on PGA Tour events and major golf championships for many years. LIV Golf is a newer concept, and it may require a slightly different analytical approach, but most of their skills should be transferable.
As such, it is beneficial to seek out recommendations from experienced golf handicappers with solid records when they provide LIV Golf betting picks. You can then perform your own analysis to see if you agree with them.
LIV Golf Everything You Need To Know
When was LIV Golf Formed?
The organization formally launched in October 2021 as LIV Golf Investments, with Greg Norman serving as chief executive. In March 2022, he announced an eight-tournament schedule known as the LIV Golf Invitational Series, which boasted $255 million in prize money.
It really stormed to prominence in June 2022, when Phil Mickelson revealed that he would abandon the PGA Tour to take part in the inaugural LIV Golf event. The first tournament, LIV Golf Invitational London, took place that month, with a $20 million prize purse.
LIV Golf Format & Rules
The LIV Golf Invitational Series has now evolved into the LIV Golf League. These are the key details:
- The season consists of 14 tournaments, held across the globe.
- Each tournament has just 54 holes, as opposed to 72 holes at a regular tournament. That gives LIV Golf its name, as LIV is the Roman numeral for 54.
- Every tournament features 48 players, divided into 12 teams: 4 Aces GC, Cleeks GC, Crusher GC, Fireball GC, HY Flyers GC, Iron Heads GC, Majesticks GC, Niblicks GC, Punch GC, Smash GC, Stinger GC and Torque GC.
- The prize purse for most events is $20 million for individual players and $5 million for teams, although it increases at certain tournaments. The total prize money for the season is $405 million.
- There are no cuts, and the same players are expected to compete at each tournament. Each round gets underway with a shotgun start.

How to Watch LIV Golf Tour
The CW network has agreed a deal to broadcast the LIV Golf League in the United States. In 2022, your only option was to stream it on YouTube or via the official app, but it will now finally arrive on American TV.
It was seen as an important step for the long-term viability of the upstart series, even if the CW is not a traditional destination for sports fans. “I’d rather be live broadcast on the CW and streamed on their app than just putting my events on YouTube without any kind of promotion, so by definition it has to improve their audience,” John Kosner, a former ESPN executive turned industry consultant, told the Washington Post.
However, he warned that it will not necessarily “move the needle,” as LIV the CW is not a natural fit for professional golf. Norman contended that the CW will “provide accessibility for our fans and maximum exposure for our athletes and partners as their reach includes more than 120 million households across the United States.”
